DON'T JUST BUILD PODCASTS. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS.

I help individuals and organizations build podcasts that inspire empathy and connection.

YOUR PODCAST NEEDS TO EXIST

Everybody has a great idea for a podcast, but only some actually take the steps necessary to make them a reality. Even when a brilliant podcast idea is finally brought to fruition, it often falls short of its full potential.

With more than a decade of experience making podcast ideas a reality, I've become particularly adept at producing dynamic, focused, sustainable audio experiences that accomplish the specific goals of the host or creator.

I believe in the power of audio to build investment with your audience, and I love the challenge of coming up with the perfect way to convey an idea through form.

I consider every project a partnership. I love collaborations with a lot of give and take. I love exploring the perspectives of others, and helping others to do the same. I love creating products that bring down the audience's defenses. And I excel at helping my partners create something that is excellent, intimate, and true.

Your audience is waiting to hear from you. Let's make it happen.

WHAT I CAN OFFER YOU

Whether you need someone to lead the project from start to finish, or selective involvement, I'll help you fill in the gaps.

THE BIG PICTURE

Every podcast needs to stand for something. I'll work with you to isolate your primary goal for the podcast, and figure out the most engaging way to communicate your message.

Work Blur

THE BREAK DOWN

Let's make it concrete! I'll work with you to establish a specific podcast plan. We'll nail down the ideal format, host, guests, and promotion plan, and put together a game-plan for implementation.

Microphone Sound Editing

THE TECHNICAL STUFF

No one wants to listen to a clumsily crafted podcast. I'll give you recommendations for hardware/software, connect you with a professional editor, help you find hosting, and finalize promotion and distribution.

Coding

THE EXECUTION

Podcasts need a driver. Whether you need someone to grab the wheel or simply help with navigation, I'm available to provide real-time help with podcast pre-production, recording, post-production, and promotion.

Taking Notes

THE REFINING

When everyone seems to have their own podcast, good won't cut it. Yours needs to be great. Once your podcast is a reality, I'll provide timely, thoughtful, and actionable feedback that will help you produce an experience that is a cut above the rest.

Lone Walk

THE SEND OFF

The end is only the beginning. I create projects with long-term impact. I'll give you the information and assistance you need to make sure your project has legs.

WHAT I'VE DONE

LIVING AND EFFECTIVE

2018
Producer, Writer, Host

A podcast collaboration between Christianity Today and the Christian Standard Bible, this non-fiction narrative podcast journeys through history, current events, theology and the human condition to tell the story of the Bible’s impact (good and bad) on the world. Season two is coming Summer 2019.

NO CHILL ENNEAGRAM

2018
Producer, Co-host

A madcap experimental gabfest gone right, every episode my wise and affable co-host, Bethany Perkins and I approached a topic that is often overthought and treated as overly sacred with levity and authenticity. The combination of silliness and sincerity struck a chord with many, and led to an average of more than 11k listeners per episode.

QUICK TO LISTEN

2016-2019
Producer

Christianity Today’s flagship podcast, I lead in the conception, implementation, and overall strategy for this podcast. Every week, CT's Morgan Lee and editor-in-chief Mark Galli invite a guest to help them dig deeper into a cultural controversy or hot topic. Over time, listens have grown steadily from 4000 to 10k listeners per episode.

THE WAY TO GLORY

2019
Producer, Writer, Host

A podcast collaboration between Christianity Today and Revelation Media, this interview show with narrative elements revealed the relevance of The Pilgrim’s Progress to a new generation of listeners in the leadup to the movie of the same name.

THE CALLING

2016-2018
Producer, Host

Every week, I got to know a well known or highly influential Christian leader, drawing out the deeply human and universal struggles of leadership with intimate, probing questions.

THE CHRIST AND POP CULTURE PODCAST NETWORK

2015-2019
Creator

Featuring the long-running “Seeing and Believing” and “Persuasion”, With the vision of an audio network as a thematic extension of the CAPC website, I sought out the talent for the long-running “Seeing and Believing” and “Persuasion”, and stewarded their creation.

TESTIMONIALS

"When Richard Clark proposed a podcast network in 2015, I thought it was a terrible idea. And I told him so. I was wrong. With his creative skills and his high capacity for coordinating moving pieces, the network launched several successful podcasts."

Alan Noble, Editor-in-Chief of Christ and Pop Culture

"As we launched 'Quick to Listen,' Richard was externally an invaluable advocate of the show to the rest of the organization, while internally offering our team constructive critique about the podcast's vision and value."

Morgan Lee, Digital Content Producer, Christianity Today

"Richard is my go-to podcast producer and a top notch collaborator. I have had nothing but good experiences working with Richard and I plan to keep working with him. Hire this guy, seriously."

Nick Rynerson, Chief Creative Officer, Useful Group

"One of my greatest professional joys has been working with Richard for several years across a wildly varied and fulfilling portfolio of podcast projects. He's deft at navigating everything relevant to a show: resource management, collaborative opportunities, big-picture editing and producing, in-the-weeds technical needs, narrative development and execution, sales, and more."

Cray Allred, Podcast Producer for Christianity Today

"Richard is endlessly creative and energetic. He excels at bringing out the strengths in those around him. He is a great source of knowledge and experience, and makes everything he is involved in better."

Bethany Perkins, Cohost of No Chill Enneagram

"When I think of Richard, I think of his unique ability to see the potential in a project and make it the very best it can be. Persuasion wouldn't exist without his vision and enthusiastic support."

Hannah Anderson, author, speaker, and cohost of Persuasion

"Richard is gifted with an ability both to conceive a vision for a new project and to help others marshal their talents for that project. With a clear path laid out for us and plenty of creative freedom to follow that path wherever it led, we were able to take the Christ & Pop Culture Podcast Network to places we could not have reached on our own."

Kevin McLenithan, film critic and cohost of Seeing and Believing podcast

MORE ABOUT ME

I grew up in southern Alabama, went to college in Florida, seminary in Louisville, KY, and have spent the last five years in Chicagoland, IL. I try to make the best of wherever I find myself, but honestly, I miss the south. I like to brag about being related to Harper Lee by marriage. In my spare time, I do improvised comedy and, depending on my season of life, read, watch TV, or play games.

I've met a wide variety of people in that amount of time, and in every place I've lived, I've always been fascinated by what drives people, and what we have to offer one another.

From college radio to the ministry, from online communities to editorial, I've been digging into the various ways we try to connect with one another my entire life. More recently, I've focused that obsession into audio, a specific venue that I find to be extremely effective in generating mutual appreciation, investment, and understanding.

I'm married to Jennifer Clark, who shares my passion for people, and together we have two children, Atticus, and Flannery.

LET'S TALK

I like to be as accessible as possible. Reach out to me via email or social media and let's talk about your upcoming project, that idea you can't get out of your head, or an upcoming event you'd like me to speak at.
